Musical Theatre, Popular Voice & Speech Arts & Drama Adjudicator 2024 - Amanda KindAmanda Kind is a commercial voice teacher, singer, songwriter, and performer. She works with a broad range of clients including professional singers, indie artists, and aspiring performers of all ages in many genres. Amanda teaches a commercial music ensemble at Wilfrid Laurier University and has been a guest lecturer, adjudicator, and workshop facilitator for many other music education programs. As an artist, Amanda has recorded a wide variety of music including a popular jazz rendition of “Wonderwall'', pop releases “easier,” and “hello heartache,” and country singles “We’re Okay” (with James Downham),“Slow Dance” (#1 on SiriusXM Top of the Country), and many others. Find her music on all digital streaming platforms. As a stage actor, select roles include the Witch in Into The Woods, Miss Hannigan in Annie, Miss Stacey in Anne of Green Gables, Sophie in Masterclass, among others. Her education includes music and theatre performance certificates from Kwantlen University College and the Canadian College of Performing Arts, as well as a Bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo and professional development in vocal pedagogy at the Boston Conservatory, Shenandoah University (Levels, I, II, II at the CCM Institute) and an Evidence-Based Vocal Pedagogy certification from MTVS. She is a member of the Songwriter’s Association of Canada, SOCAN, the Canadian Country Music Association, and is on the executive for the National Association of Teachers of Singing in Ontario (NATS). Amanda is the Artistic Director of the award-winning youth pop choir KW Glee, and has been fortunate to help launch the careers of many artists. Classical Adjudicator 2024 - Robert LoewenRobert Loewen, baritone, is a graduate of McGill University (D. Mus. in Performance and Pedagogy, M. Mus.) and University of Toronto (B. Mus.). His career is now centered on teaching, having taught at The Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, McGill University, and presently at The Royal Conservatory School and the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy of The Royal Conservatory of Music. Dr. Loewen is a Senior Examiner of the Royal Conservatory of Music, and recent Voice Discipline Specialist of the RCM Certificate Program. 2022 marked the return to in-person for the Royal Conservatory High School Voice Intensive, started by Dr. Loewen in 2016. This High School intensive has drawn singers from each region of Canada, from St. John’s to British Columbia, as well the United States. Robert Loewen has been a lead voice presenter for the Royal Conservatory across North America. A particular joy is the privilege of adjudicating Festivals each year. Dr. Loewen’s students have been admitted into North America’s leading voice programs including the Curtis Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, Julliard School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Indiana University, Manhattan School of Music, McGill University, Lamont School of Music – University of Denver, University of Toronto, The Glenn Gould School, as well as Oxford University. Former student, Dimitri Pittas, performing as Rodolfo at The Metropolitan Opera, attributed his success in the role to his work with Dr. Loewen early in his career. Bass-baritone Vartan Gabrielian, Academy alum of The Royal Conservatory, and graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music is a current member of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble. |
