| 25th Annual Newmarket Voice Festival SyllabusTwo Contrasting SongsEntry Fee Grades 1-5 $35 / Grade 6-ARCT $40 Two selections that are contrasting in style, mood, and/or tempo and from different eras. Selections must be from the current RCM Syllabus (2019 Edition). Repertoire must be at the current level of study.
Vocal Solo - Concert Group Grades 1-5 $40 - 10 minute time limit Grades 6-8 $45 - 12 minute time limit Grades 9-ARCT $50 - 15 minute time limit Three or four pieces that are contrasting in style, mood, tempo and from different eras. Selections must be from the current RCM Syllabus (2019 Editon). Performance will take the form of a mini-recital. Repertoire must be at the current level of study.
Vocalises Entry Fee $30 Choose ONE vocalise from the current set of RCM Vocalises books (2019 Edition), using all six vowels as required for exams [a], [e], [i], [o], [u] and [y]. The purpose of this class is to provide feedback for those preparing for exams and/or to improve the singer’s skill in performing vocalises which are so important for overall technical development. NEW: Singers may enter this class more than once with different vocalises but a separate entry and fee is required for each.
Vocal Solo - Songs by Unpublished Composers Entry Fee $30 This class promotes the works of Canadian composers and provides a forum for new works that are not yet published. Young and new composers are encouraged to enter as well. Please provide lyrics/sheet music for the adjudicator. Classes based on age will be created once all entries are received.
