28th Annual Newmarket Voice Festival Syllabus

Vocal Solo - Concert Group
Entry Fee:
$50 – 10-minute time limit
$60 – 13-minute time limit

$70 – 16-minute time limitt
Three or more classical selections (art songs, folksongs) that are contrasting in style, mood, languages, tempo and from different eras. Performance will take the form of a mini-recital.

Vocalises
Entry Fee $35
Choose ONE vocalise from the current set of RCM Vocalises books (2019 Edition), using all six vowels as required for exams [a], [e], [i], [o], [u] and [y]. The purpose of this class is to provide feedback for those preparing for exams and/or to improve the singer’s skill in performing vocalises which are so important for overall technical development.
NEW: Singers may enter this class more than once with different vocalises but a separate entry and fee is required for each.

Vocal Solo - Songs by Unpublished Composers
Entry Fee $35
This class promotes the works of Canadian composers and provides a forum for new works that are not yet published. Young and new composers are encouraged to enter as well. Please provide lyrics/sheet music for the adjudicator.
Classes based on age will be created once all entries are received.
