28th Annual Newmarket Voice Festival Syllabus

Popular Voice - Jazz or Blues Solo
Entry Fee $35
Lyric content should be suitable for ALL ages and audiences.
Own choice of a jazz or blues standard. Acoustic accompaniment (piano, guitar, ukulele) or professional backtracks (with no background vocals) are permitted. A microphone will be provided.
NEW: Singers may enter this class multiple times with repertoire that has not previously been performed at the Festival, but a separate entry and fee is required for each song.
Please note! If using recorded backtracks, please send in MP3 format to newmarketvoicefestival@gmail.com - backtrack must be received by January 27, 2026. Make sure there are no background voices on your track.

PVJ01	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – Open
PVJ02	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice - 21 years and under
PVJ03	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – 18 years and under
PVJ04	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – 16 years and under
PVJ05	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – 14 years and under
PVJ06	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – 12 years and under
PVJ07	Jazz or Blues - Any Voice – 10 years and under

Vocal Solo with Self-Accompaniment
Entry Fee $35
Lyric content should be suitable for ALL ages and audiences.
Own choice of popular song. Covers and/or original songs are allowed. Self-accompaniment is required (piano, guitar, ukulele). Purchased original sheet music must be provided for the adjudicator for cover pieces.
If an original song, please provide lyrics/lead sheet/chord chart for the adjudicator.
NEW: Singers may enter this category multiple times with repertoire that has not previously been performed at the Festival. But a separate entry and fee is required for each song.

SA07	Any Voice – 10 years and under

Popular Voice Masterclass
Entry Fee – Junior $40 Senior $50
Class is limited to ten singers so sign up early!
Choose one popular song cover (pop, country, rock, jazz, blues) that was not performed by the participant in any other class in the Festival. Sheet music must be provided for the adjudicator.
A time limit of three minutes is strongly recommended.
This is a non-competitive class and open to the public. The adjudicator will work with each singer individually.
